Dr. Andor Gál

Andor Gál is senior lecturer and research fellow in criminal law at the University of Szeged and is specialized in substantive criminal law. Received PhD degree (University of Szeged) in 2016, for his thesis “The Teleological Analysis of Justifiable Defence”. He is author of many articles on the regulation of justifiable defence, the constitutionality of legal norms and legal practices and other issues connected to both of general and special parts of the Hungarian criminal law. He is co-author of the Commentary on the Hungarian Criminal Code of 2012. He served as an assistant judge at the Criminal Division of the Regional Court of Appeal of Szeged, Hungary (2017-2020). Since 2018, he has been a member of the European Law Consultants’ Network at the National Office for the Judiciary. Since 2020, he has been the Head of the Vice President’s Office at National Office for the Judiciary (Budapest, Hungary).
